For me, he encouraged me to do lots of walking no lifting greater than 6 lbs I believe. At the two week mark I began fast walking / slow jogging and very light exercising with only bands.....he said it was ok.
I feel that my wrap is still secure as I still can't eat too fast or too much or else I get hiccups.
My symptoms aren't gone though....a burning sensation in my mouth and throat is still there :( Sorry guys for the multiple posts but this is what helps me get through the day.
Now at 1 month post op, I am back at work (desk job), jogging when I can, and exercising with my bands when I can......I don't feel pain in my stomach anymore....just my typical burning in my throat/mouth which I was hoping would be gone :(
What was your physical limitations post surgery and what did you do? Thanks

No lifting more than 10lbs for 6 weeks. Walking is fine, but no real exercise for that 6 weeks. I've been going by what feels comfortable. It seems like people commonly get the symptoms you are describing and they go away within the first 6 months. Hopefully yours do too!

wow 10lbs is a lot....its funny how surgeons instructions vary. Mine wanted me to be active as much as possible. Of course no heavy lifting but he encouraged me to do light jogging and even excercising with bands. But within my limits.
Gerdygirl....did you hear of others with my symptoms that improved with time? thats great news. As doubtful as I am, there's still a small part of me that's being optimistic.
How are you doing? Are you symptom free now? What were your symptoms pre op?
Thanks for your response ;)

I think it's just a number they throw out. The point is to not increase the pressure inside your chest, called bearing down, because the added pressure can pop a stitch. Also I don't think it's great to jostle around all the swollen bits inside, but your body will tell you if you're doing that too much.
It does seem like people get better! I know I'm still a novice, but everyone says wait until 6 months before judging your final result. Patience.
