I had my third surgery back in November (it was a fundo take-down) and have been through hell ever since. Was going through hell before, too, that's why I had it taken down but this is getting to a point where I don't even want to live anymore. I'm 29, can't imagine living the rest of my life like this. All my food gets stuck and I just end up pushing it back out and throwing it up. I also feel like its hard to get a deep, satisfying breath in. Will this end eventually? I hate this!!!!! It is ruining my life!!!!! Does anyone else have this??????

It is a nightmare if I have to lift anything so I avoid doing it. When I had my first surgery, I lifted something heavy and I basically pulled something, I couldn't burp AT ALL, it was HELL!!!! They did a partial take-down and he said it had gotten "twisted" and he didn't know why! And I had a great surgeon, very well-known. Could I have pulled something again even though I had it taken down?

Paddy82 I am so sorry to read of the pain, stress and anxiety you are going through.  I cannot imagine the nightmare you are going through but please know I am here for you.  I have no personal experience to share with you but I am concerned about you.  Your comment, "I don't even want to live anymore." makes me feel very sad for you.  Coming here is also a great place to vent your feeling re your illness so do feel comfortable letting out those feelings. It is so hard to deal with a chronic illness that many people do not realize how depressed they really are.   Many are afraid to admit that they need help.   . But if you find that your depression  and sadness persists, it is important to seek help. Any illness that in some way seems to increase an individual's helplessness and hopelessness will also be a trigger for depression.   Living with a chronic illness is a tremendous challenge. Periods of grief and sadness are to be expected as you come to grips with your condition and its implications. But if you find that your depression persists, it is important to seek help.   Believe you will get better and never give up.   Kindly, Kitt

Paddy, there is always a way to get better. There are doctors out there who can help, I am sure of it.

Have you tried the mayo clinic?

mayo clinic is way too expensive. i seem to forget in live in the U.S., a country that has no concern for the health of its citizens.

Insurance?? Again...I'm an AMerican...LOL. No. I'm on Medicaid but it is supposed to run out soon.

Can you go to Canada or England? You clearly need to see a doctor, something isn't right. This is your life, there is probably something that can be done to fix it, do it! Another option is Los Angeles County Hospital or a similar public hospital. You may have to wait in line for a day or 2, but you will see someone and they have some experts there. I would also recommend calling 1800 Suicide. I used to work there and they can help you find resources in your community, as well as just talk it out (even if you aren't suicidal). There are options! Don't give up hope. You just have to be motivated to pursue them. You can also probably get some info from your old doc without going for a visit if you just call and leave the nurse with a lot of information about the problems you are having and persistently call them back asking for advice.

Exactly, Paddy. Not to sound like a nerd, but one line from the movie Galaxy Quest has always stuck with me. It's a bit of a theme for me. "Never give up; Never surrender."
