acid reflux and skipped heartbeats

Hi, i'm currently on medication for acid reflux which i've had for about 3 months. In the last 6 weeks i have also been having skipped heartbeats and was just wondering if there was any connection between acid reflux and skipped heart beats.

I have premature ventricular contractioncs (pvc's). Harmless if you don't have an underlying heart condition and they feel like a missed/skipped heart beat. Plus everyone has a few now and then. Just some more than others. But, to answer your question: Yes, there is some correlation between reflux and skipped beats.

Thanks for that, i've had an ecg and chest xray which came back clear and am just waiting for results of a 24 hour heart monitor but the specialist thinks the skipped beats are benign. I just worry cos i always have a pain in the left side of my chest around the heart area and don't know if its from the skipped beats or the acid reflux. Thanks again for your reply.

I had all the tests done as well and have similar pains. Actually, I get them all of the place: right side, left side, sternum, back, ab area, etc... The only time I've never really had the pain was when I was slimmer.

I have this too, although it has decreased with a decrease of my ppi and better diet chages

Hi moggie a ppi is a proton pump inhibitor it's a class of drugs that block acid production at the cellular level,.these drugs take longer to kick in however there effect usually lasts24hrs an some half life up to 2 or three days.
