Can you belch an vomit with Lynx?

From what I have heard, you can still belch. Id call my insurance. Doubt they cover it yet though.

BearGirl, how are you doing with the Linx? I am planning on getting one, regardless of insurance coverage.....

Well 9 months on it's still not perfect, but living with the Linx is a lot better than living without it. I do still have to remember to eat small bites of food & chew well otherwise things do tend to get 'stuck' & then when the device finally opens it's a horrible feeling. It doesn't like very cold food or drink either. It's as if the magnets freeze for a few seconds & then suddenly open again.

These minor problems are preferable to belching acid & sleeping propped up at night & swallowing what felt like gallons of Gaviscon every day!!

I've had to moderate my diet somewhat - I've more or less given up on red meat unless it's minced, but I don't really miss it much. Most other things are fine & I can cope with a much more varied diet than before. I can even tolerate some wine & beer,( the English Ale variety - not too gassy) with no ill-effects - well except to my head which has little or no tolerance for alcohol these days!!

Would I do it again? Yes I would, but I'm really glad I've been able to be in touch with other Linx patients both here at the Forum & also here at home. We're a very small group here in the U.K. & it's good to talk to others especially at the beginning when you're getting used to the device.

That's a hard question to answer as the people I've been in touch with all have varying problems, & Linx didn't solve all the problems for all the people. None of us had exactly the same symptoms while we adjusted to the device, but they were similar in different ways.

Only 10 of us (last info I had) have had the device here in the U.K. & to the best of my knowledge no-one has opted to have it removed. We all start putting in our current data after 1 year so I'm guessing they are about to start collecting it & it will be interesting to see the satisfaction scores over here.

Some on this Forum have had the Linx either here or in the U.S. so it might be worth you posting a question to see what others think.

Also - one more question. Are there any long term activity restrictions? Are you still able to do vigorous exercise, jump on trampolines, ride roller coasters, and do anything that jars your body around quite a bit?

My biggest concern is that the device will move around on the esophagus (and out of position), but maybe that is unwarranted.

The red meat issue is partly to do with the Linx. Chewing everything very well is still a necessity for me & dense meat just takes too long. I like my meat on the rare side & end up with jaw ache!! Also I apparently have 'variant IBS' - in my stomach - & although the docs are working on that, it does seem to suit me better not to eat it.

With regard to exercise; the one & only time I tried Trampolining I nearly broke my nose so I've never bothered since!! The last time I went on a Roller-coaster it threw me upside down (part of the experience!!) & I came off it the colour of flour!! Never repeated that one either surprisingly. My exercise tends to be water based - lots of Aqua Aerobics. This can be a lot more strenuous than it sounds & I've never had any problems since I've had the Linx. I also use Power Plates in the gym & they don't appear to have any impact either. So I don't think vigorous exercise has any impact on the device at all.
