Hi Everblue,Smurfy Shadow has provided some excellent advice. Ranitidine is prescribed to take daily. It takes consistent treatment to keep your stomach feeling good. It's not helpful to get better for a few days and get bad again over and over again.
Eat carefully. If you know something triggers your stomach, avoid it. Whatever you do has to be done consistently and over months not days. It takes a long time for stomach tissue to heal and get feeling better. When I've gotten gastritis the very shortest episode lasts over a month. Generally it's more like three months of very careful eating...no spice, no acidic foods, no roughness (like raw veggies or popcorn, etc.) that can irritate when your stomach mashes food.
You probably have to always be careful with your stomach. Those were the cards you were dealt, and you'll have to make the best of it. It wasn't likely to have been bought on by the spice, but since your stomach is sensitive, the spice took its toll.
Hang in there!
