Hi Gaviscon,I'm pretty positive what you're going through is a reaction to the increase swelling of your wrap. It becomes increasingly swollen over the first two weeks, peaking on or about 14 days.
Because of this, it sounds as if whatever you're drinking or eating is getting held up at the wrap site and causing irritation. Also, you're likely retching up what's stuck there.
I recommend that you slow down on drinking and eating. Take smaller sips with more swallows. After eating sip water or a warm drink until whatever it is has a chance to get through your swollen wrap.
The pain could be a result of two things in my estimation...the swelling itself is pulling on the repair and causing straight-out surgical pain. Also, the food, drink, and even medication could be sitting at the wrap site and irritating the area.
This whole problem will subside as your wrap heals and the swelling goes down. Hang in there. You're at a tough spot in the healing process. I remember my surgeon telling me about the swelling that was coming and saying, "Your swallowing will get worse before it gets better."
It will get better.
Hang in there!
