I had my Nissan surgery in July of 2009. I had over 1/2 of my stomach stuck under ribcage, and had acid reflux bad for several yrs. I had the surgery, took about
2 months to recover. Lost about
40 lbs..which was a good thing.
I very rarely burp, and have never gotten sick since, but it did notice a strange sensation in my check area...kinda like the feeling you get when you eat a sour candy. I think that is the acid reflux, but its not nearly as bad as it used to be.
I used to have a hard time sleeping, and would wake up with the acid all in my throat(pre-surgery)
Recently, my throat seemed like it was swollen for a few weeks, and I have been hoarse and always straightening my throat.
I remember that after I had the surgery, the surgeon told me that I would NEVER have reflux again...So.... to make a long story short...I went to my ENT dr. the other day and told him that my thoat felt swollen and was wondering the cause.
He immediately asked if it was acid reflux?? I told him that I had had surgery a few yrs back and that couldn't be the cause. So he put a scope camera down my nose and throat, and then he said " YEP its acid reflu...
and your throat is swollen on both sides from it. I told him that its been going on for 2 months. AND that the surgeon had said I wouldnt have reflux ever again....he said you can get it back and that the surgeon was wrong to tell me that.
So you know I was shocked to hear that this is the cause.
So now he sent me home with some samples of Dexilant to try for 5 days, its helped the swollen throat, but I am sooo bummed that I have reflux back again. Other than the swollen throat and clearing of my throat, and hoarseness, the other symptom I have of the reflux is this strange sensation in mu check area...like i just had a sour candy. And I know that this is the reflux, but its sooo strange that this is the sensation that I get from it now.
I hope things don't escalate again, back to how it was before the surgery.
QUESTION????? is anyone else having this going on??
And what did you do about it.
