Hello, I've been browsing these forums for a week or two now and I learned a lot!
My reflux is pretty bad but then again I just started the treatment and hopefully I can get it under control with medications and diet. My doctor said I may need the surgery eventually though, maybe in 6 months, maybe in 10 years. Time will tell.
Thing is, I'm really unsure about
Nissen. It just doesn't sound quite right, sounds like replacing one set of symptoms with another and there is no promise of relief :( That is why I've been looking for all the other possible solutions out there, still it appears that vast majority of people decide on Nissen. Does that mean the procedures like Stretta or TIF are not as successful after all? They seemed promising and less invasive than Nissen. I don't know what to think anymore...
Then there is LINX, it worked well for some people here in the forums, but I understand it's available only for specific cases.
I also wonder what the future will bring, I remember reading about
recent ongoing trials for a device called
"Multi-Band Ligator" Also, it is distant future but there is hope in
stem cell research. Injecting muscle cells into LES could be a future solution.
This is hopeless, but I'm becoming obsessed with GERD and I wish there was a wonder drug that helped us all with this disease :(
