Hi.......just got some low acid coffee that I ordered online and am going to give it a try this morning.  ahhhhhhhh a cup of coffee.  I want it to be ok, but I also am taking it with a grain of salt as to whether it works or not.  Has anyone else tried the low acid coffee??  I will keep you posted on whether I enjoy this tremendously or pay for it later.  I do so enjoy a cup of coffee with my breakfast in the morning.

I use Kava instant coffee which is 15 times less acid than other coffee. You might want to try that if your other one doesn't work for you. Good Luck.

Hi Debora and sorbitolhater. We don`t have acid free coffee in England. I have never heard of it. It makes you wonder if theres a common denominator in all of this. I drink alot of coffee and I smoke, and I like a drink of white wine quite often. I try to do most of the things you should do with GERD but I`m not a saint. What are everyone elses vices I wonder.

Hi everyone......I tried my new low acid coffee that I ordered online and I have to say that I can not tell you whether it works or not.  Because I only took a couple of sips and then added some cream and took a couple of more sips and it was the worse tasting cup of coffee that I have ever had in my whole entire life.  Dumped it all out.  ugh!!!   It was the helva brand of low acid coffee.  What kind has anyone else bought???  Is there a better brand out there and if so please do let me know about it.  It was expensive to order and I have asked at every coffee shop around here in my area about low acid coffee and they just look at me and have no idea of what I am talking about.  The search continues!!!  And by the way..... does anyone out there use the low acid coffee and does it really work???  Very interested in comments.    Debi  :-)

I ordered puroast and I'll let you know what I think when I get it. I'm interested in knowing what you thought was bad about the taste... was it too bitter? too weak/strong? taste like mud?:) I'm curious, it does look like this low acid coffee is a little pricey and I'm wondering if I just threw money down the drain but I will definitely let you know.

I got my coffee today and brewed some and I have to say that it tastes pretty good. I can't tell you yet if it has any effects on my reflux but it definitely has good flavor. I'll post again once I can tell what kind of effect it has on my reflux.

An easy way to make 76% acid free coffee that TASTE GREAT is. . .

 

1 Cup coffee beans.  Grind to very coarse.

3 Cups water.

 

Soak 12 hours

 

Strain and refridgerate, then use the concentrate to make your coffee. (1/3 to 1/2 concentrate and add water to taste.)

Are you all in Starbucks Low Acid Heaven in this thread now?  I hope the coffee works out well for you and Dan, thank you for the recipe to low acid coffee.

Ok,
I've still been drinking coffee but completely decaf. and it doesn't seem to bother me. I was only drinking like half caffeine/half decaf before. A few years ago I had given up caffeine completely, then it slowly inched back. But I THINK the decaf is ok for me. I do notice the difference if I add even a little caffeine.

What's this about starbucks? I've never had their coffee - are they making a low acid brand? I'll bet it's too pricey for me!

I was doing an online search for Kava instant cofffee because I can't find it anywhere,, and this forum came up. Does anyone know where I can find Kava instant coffee or another instant coffee that is acid reduced? (I don't want to have to mess with grinding and brewing coffee cus all I really want is just one cup on the morning.

Thaqnks in advance for any information you can give me to help me enjoy a morning cup of coffee without getting sick! :)

Guys: TRADER JOE'S makes a LOW ACID coffee that's awesome. It's their French Roast and looks exactly like their "normal" French Roast only it has a red circle on it that says "low acid". You can grind it right there. It's kinda hard to find, as it blends in with their other coffees, so you may have to ask someone to help you find it. I'd call ahead of time to make sure they carry it. I had it for the first time this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it.  It is a great way to not have to give up drinking my morning latte.  I'm wondering, though, if you heat the refrigerated coffee that you add to the boiling water.  I didn't want to ruin a good thing but it could have been warmer.  THANK YOU so much!  a.m.latte

I'm not going to try any of this just yet (my esophagus is in the process of healing) but I would love to be able to have a morning coffee again. I didn't even know there were low acid coffees out there, or that you could make it yourself like Dan posted.

This is the second day I had my 2 cups of cold-brewed coffee.  I won't have to use my appliance anymore.  Thanks to Dan, today I made the  full recipe, and I figure that I should have enough for 2 cups each day for the next 4 days.  That's not much work to enjoy mellow tasting coffee.  My esophagus already seems back to normal as I think I aggravated it by having chocolate a few days ago.  Hope others find this information helpful.

Google Toddy coffee and see what you find. It uses the cold water method. A few years ago the filters, a jar with a plastic piece to make the coffe could be found on the internet. Folgers makes simply smooth coffee that is low acid.
