Hello, i have had 3 nissen fundoplication ops all laproscopic and 3 hiatus hernia repairs. 9 months ago I started suffering from reflux again, I have tried various meds and nothing has worked. The reflux has become worse... my throat now burn constantly.. any thoughts or ideas would be most welcome. I have an appointment to see gastroenterologist on 18 July..

Welcome to the Healing Well yeah yeah yeah Wrapped Club! yeah yeah yeah I am so sorry to hear that you're having so much trouble. Did you have all three Nissens done by the same surgeon? Have you gotten a second opinion?

When did you have each Nissen? What tests did you have to document the fact that each Nissen had failed?

With the problems that you're having, it sounds as if you'd benefit from visiting a great medical center for another opinion.  Do you live in an area where you could reach one?  Cleveland Clinic is highly thought of, I'm sure big hospitals in NYC would be very knowledgeable about handling difficult cases.  The Mayo Clinics are another option.  It depends on your location.

yes I had all three Nissen's done by the same surgeon, Ass.Prof Peter Nottle from Williamstown,Vic.( I am from Australia)
I had my Nissens in 2007,2008,2009
i had n1 in may 2007, in sept i suffered food poisoning and vomited numerous times quite fiercely and after suffering sever gord again, surgeon did another scope, with this he decided it needed to be redone.
n2 was sept 2008, then dec 2008 i had a total hip replacement and flatlined twice on the tab;e. after this the gord was back big time. i had 24 hour ph testing, Esophageal Manometry, gastroscope,
n3 was done in august 2009 again i was suffering severe gord.. another scope was preformed..
with each scope i had a histis hernia and the last one i also had a sliding paraesophageal hernia.
in nov 2011 i again began having touble with gord..tried pariet, somec, nexium with no relief. i am now off to get a second opinion on 18th july from a gastroenterologist.

maybe it's time to find another surgeon? I don't know if I would let the same surgeon do the same surgery on me, especially in the first 2 failed...
