Anyone ever hear of a hiatal hernia getting smaller on its own? During the past 4 years my endoscopes always showed a medium hiatal hernia. My last scope showed a small hiatal hernia. Anyone know anything about
it?

I've never heard of them getting smaller, always larger. Are you sure they were measuring right?

This is a obvious answer.
you either lost weight, so the hernia dosent appear any larger, or they didnt blow your stomach up all the way. Or it was borderline before.
either way, if its not bigger I wouldnt worry about
it.

Thanks for everyone's response.
Got the results back. The hernia was smaller because there was less inflammation. The stomach polyps are the gastric kind that don't develop into anything. The gastritis is chronic but there was no sign of the h pylori infection or any inflammation.

Depending on hiatal hole size, hernia size can move from medium to small or vise versa . Ofcouse it also depends on pressure from below/ tummy/ obesity etc. Mechanically, if pressure falls continously for a large period of time, hernia would suppose to come down due to gravity.
