I am four days post op from NF. They went hoping to do a full wrap, but I had massive amounts of scar tissue in the way and they were only able to do a partial wrap. I would like to hear stories about successful partial wraps or maybe even unsuccessful stories so I know what to expect.....

Hi PJess,

Welcome to the yeah yeah yeah Wrapped Club! yeah yeah yeah I've been working on this forum for three and a half years, and have come across quite a few people who have had a partial wrap.  The majority of them are very happy with the results.  The best part about a partial wrap is that it diminishes some of the uncomfortable side-effects during healing--in particular, bloating is much less of a problem with a partial wrap.

Keep in mind that people who seek out a forum like this are very often experiencing difficulties and are looking for answers.  For that reason there seem to be a disproportionate number of difficulties and failures.  Many who have the surgery go on happily with their new quality of life without ever posting on a forum.

I'm sure others will be by to share their experiences and support.  Congratulations on your new wrap!  This is a great place to come for support and shared experiences.  Happy healing!

Yes maam i am a partial wrap member..matter of fact that's all my Dr. does..he says the full wrap has more complications & he's done thousands so i trust his experience & wisdom..partil leaves it more of a natural state & as long as you had your hernia repaired w/it you should be good to go my friend!I'm almost a mo. post op & doing great:)Just take your time & don't rush the eating..small bites,drink lots of fluids & take it easy..i loved the Boost shakes,yummy & by day 5 i was starting on ice cream & milkshakes..soreness is gone & btw i can burp & if need to i should be able to vomit(lets hope i dont need to)Wish you lots of luck!
ps..i do hiccup after eating,kinda funny actually

I'm nearly 3 years post-op. I had a 270 degree wrap done December 2009.
I had the hiccups like shelia has. It does go away after a few days. I mainly got them if I over ate.
It has survived many throwing ups with no leaking. I feel great!

I just read your other post & i am so sorry to hear about your complications..let me just say that my Dr told me that the voice thing will be the last thing to clear up because of the damage from all of the acid..im still a little hoarse & still have throat clearing but it 's getting better daily..also he said that if it's done right the success rate is above90 %..unless you are obese,smoke,drink don't take care of yourself etc..give it time sweetie,this IS a major surgery..you won't heal overnight but you should see improvements everyday.It was about 5 days before i could tell i had a waist so that part is normal..At day 7 i had lost 6 lbs(i didn't weigh before that)..take care & let us know how you're doing wink

It may be hard to believe, and undoubtedly it's an issue that has been complicated by allergy, but I'm now three-and-a-half years post op, and FINALLY, I can sing again.  My voice remained hoarse for the entire time, and was very hoarse prior to my surgery.  I do think allergy plays a part, but I'm so happy to finally have my old voice back--and it has happened in the midst of allergy season.  Go figure.

It seems as if voice issues can take a very long time to resolve.

Today is Day 5. I woke up today feeling better than yesterday, so I guess that is good news! Glad to hear you all had good luck and experiences. I hope to as well. My children get upset when they still hear me coughing since they had assumed I would come home and the coughing would be gone instantly. I secretly hoped this would be the case, as well, but I kinda knew better! I weighed myself this morning and had lost four lbs. It seems that I finally shook off some of the swelling, although I just ate a bowl of creamy soup and feel like I am stuffed to the gills! I guess it will take time to realize when I am full now, before I feel overstuffed. I was also able to start on Protein drinks, which I had for breakfast, which I guess gave me more energy after four days of basically water. So, life is getting better. I am sure I will be back again with more questions. I thought I would never forget all of your stories. I had read them over and over again before the surgery....I think maybe they removed some of my memory during the wrap. LOL... And, yes, I am a bit depressed that once I am healed from this I will need to look further into the future issues I will have with my remaining scar tissue that is in the way of my other organs. But, I am taking one step at a time and one day at a time. Hoping that I will feel up to going back to work at 3 weeks....

Hi PJess,

I'm not sure about your history, but as far as coughing goes, don't give up hope!  It definitely takes time for the lungs to heal and the cough to improve.  It took two and a half months for mine to improve, but improve, they did. 

Patience...it'll happen.
