Throat feeling strange

Does anyone have experience of following symptoms as it is new to me.

I am 41 and have reflux, I have a failed Nissen behind me and take 30 - 60mg of omeprazole per day.

I have recently (since last gastroscope) started getting what I can only describe as a strange feeling behind tonsils in throat like it is a smaller diameter than before. Swallowing also feels different and slightly rough, I also get a lot more throat soreness in the morning and it always feels dry. I have been getting progressively worse symptoms with a lot more larger volume reflux issues with being sick into mouth albeit acid is usually not too bad as this happens predominantly in the morning following breakfast and I always take ppi at least 40 mins before eating and now avoid milk. I have noted more burning now in Later in the day and often take a swig of gaviscon as last thing I do before sleeping.

Any advice would be appreciated whilst I await next consultant appointment.

I have similar symptoms. I take 40mg of omeprazole a day but am beginning to find it insufficient. I used to be on Nexium but switched to OTC in hopes of eventually weening off PPIs for good but now it looks like I'll be going back on the Nexium. Anyway, usually at night I have a very uncomfortable sort of lump in my throat and it feels like something is crawling up my throat. It usually isn't accompanied by a typical reflux burning but it is very unpleasant and keeps me from sleeping
Sometimes it feels like its cutting off my air way and it.can give me anxiety as well. Antacids do help but I've been taking them every night and I want to break that habit. Hopefully going back on Nexium will help with these symptoms.

Are you on medication normajean? If you're taking medication to keep the acid under control and it is working like it's supposed to, damage to your esophagus should heal at least somewhat. The only way to know for sure is to see a GI and have an endoscopy, which I encourage you to do.

The Prilosec will reduce acid production and in turn your sphincter will no longer be exposed to the acid and will be able to heal. It may take a few days to a week or so but you should start to notice a difference. I have not heard of black strap molasses but I have heard of many other natural remedies which seem to work on a person to person basis. It's all about seeing what works for you. I know DGL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deglycyrrhizinated_licorice) is also a popular remedy, so do some research and give it a shot.
