How is this even posssible

I asked my local go for a second opinion on the condition of my wrap. He confirmed it is herniated, twisted, and undone. He showed my husband a pic of my les with the scope through it and there was a huge gap. After 3 nissens, how is this even possible? I've done nothing to even slightly compromise my wraps so what gives? I'm so frustrated, irritated, angry that I still have the same symptoms as before the first nissen. He said I have a bunch of polyps that he took biopsies. Also took biopsies of my stomach and esophagus because they are so eroded he's afraid it could be or turn into cancer. I'm not sure when this nightmare will end but I sure hope I'll be able to have one alcoholic beverage to celebrate victory!

From what I've seen so far - you, Bill, and I are among the small minority on the forums who have been through this 3 times. Echoing Bill, I'm concerned about who has been doing these procedures, since you've had them so close together and without any long term success.

Also, did they consider gastropexy or esophagael lengthening during any of these procedures? My surgeon is not a fan of the lengthening in most cases, but so many failures seems to suggest that your esophagus might just be too short for your body. Gastropexy is a "belt and suspenders" approach for people with multiple failures where the surgeon stitches the stomach to the abdominal wall to help prevent it from traveling back up to the surgical site and damaging any HH repair or the wrap itself.

Like Bill, if you need any suggestions for surgeons, I am happy to help. I met with or spoke to 4 different redo specialists before deciding on mine. I ended up traveling for surgeries 1 & 2.

Yes it was the same surgeon that did all 3. He said the first 2 were loose so he tightened them. The third one he said he tightened again and repaired a hernia. He's a highly suggested surgeon around here which was why I went to him. I called my GI yesterday to be referred to someone else. I'm in Wisconsin so if you guys know a surgeon close to here, I'd be willing to check them out. I can't travel far due to my pots but I can try to work something out. David, I have not heard of either of those before. I did see a specialist in Milwaukee a few times that said I could have a motility problem and that's why it keeps coming undone. But my manometry came back normal. My GI has mentioned me filing a law suit against the surgeon. Not sure what the outcome of that would be because the surgery isn't a guarantee fix.

Thanks Bill!! I have an appointment in a few hours with a new surgeon. I'm drawing a blank on what questions to ask besides how many nissens and redo's he has done.

He was great!! The first dr that actually listened to me and was understanding! He said my reflux is most likely a symptom of a bigger problem, I could have told him that. He took my other diagnosis into consideration, current and past. He said with all my issues I would be a good candidate for the show Mystery Diagnosis. Lol Thanks? I have to get another barium swallow done on Monday. Instead of just watching how it goes through the wrap and stomach, he's going to see how long it takes my intestines to digest it. He said if I have an intestinal motility issue, it will cause everything to back up, causing reflux, causing my wrap to burst from the pressure. I told him about my 22 years of having to take stimulant laxatives (separate issue) and he said that will kill off the nerves and the intestines will become dependent on the med to function. The good thing is he said he's determined to figure it out. I told him I've been turned away by at least 3 drs and he said to 'bring it on'. LOL It was quite funny watching him go through my chart in disbelief that I've had all these problems at a 'young' age. I left feeling like I won the lottery.
