Sounds like you got a lot going on. I would definitely meet with your doctor to discuss all of this. one way to tell whether or not it is GERD is to implement several lifestyle changes and see if things improve. If they get better it was probably GERD. Lifestyle changes are things like sleeping on an incline (which I've been doing and it seems to help), not eating a few hours before bed, eating small but more frequent meals, avoiding trigger foods like tomato based products, fried stuff, fatty stuff, coke, coffee, etc...
