I'm sorry to hear that you're having a bad time :(
I've always suffered from acid reflux and a variety of symptoms, but it wasn't until 5 months ago that i had the worst episodes in my life, (i'm 31), and was finally diagnosed with GERD and a hiatal hernia.
From then until now my diet was reduced to almost nothing. I was always nauseous and most food hurt me, so i preferred not to eat anything and my appetite decreased with time.
The doctor indicated Nexium daily and though my symptoms were intermittent during that period, (meaning i had good and bad days), the symptoms finally decreased and my appetite started to come back again.
Nexium doesn't work all by itself though, you have to remove a lot of things from your diet.
What worked for me was eliminating:
Milk, cheese and all dairy products
Alcohol
Chili, pepper and strong spices
tomato and tomato based sauces
oily and deep fried foods (except for olive oil)
fresh, uncooked fruits and vegetables, specially lettuce and other leaves.
Carbonated drinks
Chocolate
Coffee and all caffeinated beverages
I got my first nissen 3 days ago and my GERD symptoms are gone :D and my appetite feels quite normal now. I was waking up from the anesthesia and i was craving a burger with fries, haha!
I hope you get better soon. GO to your doctor, everybody's symptoms on GERD are quite unique and should be approached differently. Keep that hopes up =)
