Re: GERD & SWIMMING.
My symptoms started at the end of august after swimming 3x a week during the summer in a chlorinated pool. (I was also drinking a lot of Diet Coke to cool me off & give me energy)
When I would swim under water, the skin inside mouth would feel irritated. Then I noticed dry mouth and dry teeth. This then progressed to a burning throat. I also felt hard edges near the gum line of my wisdom tooth.
I have suspected that either the chlorine, pesticide spraying (for west nile mosquitos) near the pool, or diet coke had something to do with the LPR/Gerd.
I am wondering if anyone with gerd has been swimming in chlorinated pools or if they were exposed to any pesticide spraying?
So far, brushing my teeth with biotene mild mint formula and chewing trident bubble gum helps me with burning throat. Does anyone rely on gum for burning throat?
