constant hunger

hey maria..sorry i havent emailed you back...but i will tomorrow. Its been a hectic few days. I think hunger is apart of it..but i think a lot of that part is mental because we are missing the foods we cant eat anymore. Trust me..after awhile you wont miss them as much...its like quitting smoking. You will get through this. We all will.

I had constant sort of rumbly hungry tummy leading me to eat constantly. The PPIs didn't help much with this and it seemed to go hand in hand with nausea. I think it is the gastritis element of GERD that can do this.

Have you been tested for Helicobacter?

I still have heartburn symptoms but the nausea and hunger have settled with acupuncture.

Does your stomach burn too? Mine does along with hunger pains, even after I eat! So annoying. Are you taking PPIs? I'm on them and my esophagus still burns constantly! I feel like I'm doing damage too and I don't know what else to do because I've tried all of the PPIs now and they aren't working as effectively for me as they once did :(

I'm too suffering with the constant hunger feeling in my throat, chest. Was diagnosed with H.Pylori and been on Pylera but off of it now. Will be tested in two weeks. I'm tired of the antibiotics and this is a new symptom. I'm hoping my doc perform another Endo to see whats going on. Can't deal with this hunger and nausea feeling. Anyone find relief?

This is something I get all the time. I get heartburn and burning pains and then I get hunger sensations that are separate from pains. Usually I know I'm not actually hungry, but it hasn't helped that I get more relief from food than I get from the PPIs. If you do what I do, just make sure you respond with small amounts of foods and not extra meals. I've been bad about the foods I eat and now Im up to 240 pounds.

Did you take a PPI while taking your H. Pylori treatment? Typically a PPI or other acid blocker is given with it. It both helps the stomach to heal and I believe has an anti H.Pylori effect.

PPIs are quite safe meds, and you should know within a day or two (if not a few hours) whether it's helping.

With the Pylera no PPI.

This is a large part of my symptoms too - pain if you do eat and pain if you don't!!

Chewing gum helps but sometimes I have too much, which encourages actual hunger and also I got foot cramps from the phenylalanine in the gum!

I try to have low calorie snacks if I can but often end up eating crisps (potato chips) as they tend to settle things. A thickened drink sometimes helps too, like a small amount of a thick soup or a milky drink.

Eating later than 6 pm is very difficult for me - we can't really go out for meals cos I feel very ill if I have to wait too long for the food.
