Sumner,
I recommend you stack your kitchen with soft foods and liquids - just make sure to get the nutritious ones. You will not be able to eat that much in the beginning so you need to make sure whatever you need give you good nutrients and vitamins. I would buy good protein shakes, greek yogurt, even baby foods. You should try them before the surgery to make sure they don't cause any problems with your stomach - you do not want any of that after the surgery. You should also ask your doctor for some anti-nausea medication to take just in case you need it. Recovery may be slow and you may be in pain first few days, especially from the gas they pump you with so walk and move as much as you can - it will help get it out. Also, don't try to eat too much or any solid foods too fast or it will get stuck and you will be in a lot of pain. I am sure others can provide more advise - as long as you have a good surgeon you will be fine. Please post if you have any questions. Good luck.
