First off, hello. I'm new here. I've been reading these boards for awhile, but I wanted to make my own post to get some ideas. Please excuse the post if it gets too lengthy.
Background: about
8 months ago now I was diagnosed with panic disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. I was seeing a talk therapist for it and she was helping a great deal. One thing I was having problems with however was eating. Somehow (I believe through probably a combination of not eating enough and not eating the right types of food) I started to get an intense burning in my throat and my tongue. My therapist was telling me it was a byproduct of anxiety so I didn't look into it. It kept getting worse so I decided to go see my general physician. He told me it was acid reflux and prescribed me prevacid. The prevacid didn't really help and it started to get worse. So my next step was to go see a gastroenterologist. He scheduled me for an upper endoscopy and a colonoscopy. He hasn't done the colonoscopy yet but the upper endoscopy diagnosis was mild gastritis and patulous esophagus. He prescribed me 40mg prilosec omeprazole for it. The burning went away for the most part but it was replaced with a scary numbness. My mouth, tongue, throat are all completely numb. Going down the middle of my chest it feels a very dull burning sensation along with a prickling feeling. And with that numbness is also a feeling of extreme constriction in my chest, inability to get a full satisfying breath, an acidic taste in my mouth and just an overall feeling of discomfort and panic. But it doesn't feel anything like the "panic" I felt before, I feel like it must be related to the acid.
I ran all kinds of tests. I went to the ER lots of times. They did blood work, they checked for vitamin deficiencies, they checked my hemoglobin count, they tested my thyroid, blood pressure, EKG, Echocardiogram, all came out perfectly normal so then they gave me xanax and said it's just anxiety. I took the Xanax and while it slightly calmed my mind down, the bodily symptoms were still there. So I just stopped taking it because I felt like the physical problem is causing me anxiety rather than the other way around. Nobody will help me and all the doctors think i'm nuts. Can anyone here give me some advice?
