feeling hot after taking Dexilant?

I read one woman's comment that she felt hot after taking Dexilant. I do too, but I felt I was having hot flashes until I read her comment. I do not feel hot after taking Nexium, but I find it is not as strong against the acid as Dexilant is.

I don't like the hot feeling, and I am returing to Nexium. jip1234

Sorry to cut in, but did the Dexilant help any better than the Nexium (despite the hot feeling)?

Hi.

I am taking 60Mg of Dexilant daily. Nothing (side effects) out of the ordinary for me.
Everyone is different.

Sorry the dexilant has such a side effect for you. I took it for a couple months and didn't have any side effects, but I have been lucky and haven't had any side effects with any PPIs.

I just started the Dexilant 60 mg. Can anyone tell me how long it takes for it to take full effect? I am still having some heartburn and nausea.

Hi psbg,

When I took my first dose (60Mg) I feel asleep from relief.

Right now, it is keeping me in check, but I don't know for how much longer.

Give it 3 full 60Mg doses and see what happens...

I am on 60 mg dexilant....i feel sweats in my face...and get a warm feeling too....comes and goes whenever it wants~ I still take it but wondering if I could go down to the 30 mg~ dosage~ Put a call in to my new doc and waiting on response back~ I mainly want to go down to 30 just because i think 60 is a high dose~

Hi Gigglesalc25 -- I am fairly sure my hot feeling is due to Nexilant, but I cannot dismiss the possibility that it is due to hormonal hot flashes. To be scientific, all posibilities shouldbe considered.

If your GERD symptoms are completely controlled by 60 mg of Dexilant, they may not be with the 30 mg dose. Good luck; its worth a try. But be ready for your doctor to look at you as if you are crazy when you say that Dexilant makes you feel hot.

I, too, have been on 60 mg of Dexilant for about two years.  Until reading your posts, I never even thought that my "hot flashes" had anything to do with the meds.  I just had hiatal hernia NF on 3/22/13 and hope to be off the meds forever, so I'll let you know if the "hot flashes" go away!

Prilosec caused hot flashes for me. (I'm a 26 year old female.) When I told my doctor, he acted like I was crazy. I was eventually put on Dexilant by my GI doc and have had no weird side effects since.

Have been on Dexilant for approximately 7 months. Reflux is starting to come back around 3am and I am sweating like I did when I was menopausal. I am way past that age now and can only surmise that the sweating is a side effect of 60MG daily dose of Dexilant.

As I am not a Dr. I cannot answer your question, but, I can share with your what is posted on the Dexilant WEB MD site.

Tell your doctor immediately if you have: heartburn with lightheadedness/sweating/dizziness, chest pain or shoulder pain (especially with trouble breathing, sweating, lightheadedness, pain spreading to arms/jaw/neck/shoulders)

I am sure other members may have personal experiences they will be along to share with you.
