Severe reflux laryngitis even after fundoplication

I just had my throat checked yesterday. I am still having severe reflux laryngitis even after my fundoplication which I had 4 months ago. I am going for a barium swallow test on Friday and I do hope the wrap is still in place. I have paid alot to get a private specialist to get this ops done.

But I am still super depress as I have had changed my diet, visited TCM, took every single reflux medicine, meditate, sleep with bed elevated, and even had fundo but still have severe reflux. That sucks. Anyone else who face this? I am really worried that my fundo was a failure. I read some forums and someone said that he took 1 tablespoon of Manuka honey first thing in the morning and it cured him after finishing 1 bottle. Anybody can confirm that it helps too? I am desperate for healing now.

I am sorry , i hade same experience with GERD/LPR after my surgery that i had it don befor 3 weeks ago , My surgeon said " This is caused by acid rebound when you taper off of PPI. Please take an H2 blocker on the days you don't take PPI. H2 blockers such as Zantac or Pepcid will help. You should stop PPI completely and use H2 blockers and mylanta as needed.

Once your hormone levels normalize (Gastrin), you won't have the acid rebound "

May that is also what happen with you , nothing to be scar u will pass this stage , try to relax . Personally i notice the must who had GERD/LPR also had anxiety in the same time , just when have relaxing time with no anixity you will feel better with your LPR/GERD .

Really i use orgenal mountain hony it help me too much and i used manoka hony in the past when i was take my ppi daily i did not see any change , mybe because my ppi .

I had my fundo 18 months ago and I still get reflux. I think it is called silent reflux when it affects your throat. I had a Barium swallow test and it came back negative (no reflux) and the wrap is intact. I tried going back on PPIs and it did not help. I have resigned myself that I will have to live with this affliction for the rest of my life without help.
I continue to be on a GERD diet; no caffeine, chocolate; citrus, spices and fatty foods.
I have also consulted a renowned gastroenterologist and he indicated that besides PPIs and diet nothing else can be done.

Hi. Thank you both for replying. Is there really no cure for GERD? I don't want to take medicine for the rest of my life even after spending so much on this surgery. I have never stopped taking PPI after my surgery too and it's really frustrating.

And my voice is really my life. I love singing so much and for the last 3 years I feel really depressed without being able to sing. Could some helpful soul give me some advice to cure this?

I spent 28'000 USD to had my surgery and i steel in early steage of recovery im in the third week and i have some GERD/LPR , i am turst thir is a hope somewhere for us .

I seldom feel heartburn in the day, unless I lie down. Nope, my doctor didn't tell me about the acid rebound.

By the way, it is normal to have heartburn for you since you are just 3 weeks after operation. But for me, at 4 months, I am not suppose to have such serious reflux.

Did you notice if there was less silent reflux after the surgery?

Did you have a impedance test post op to confirm if the reflux was above normal?

Not to sound heartless or rude. But I was the one who started this topic and am also still having reflux after fundo. So I don't feel comfortable when someone comes in and show concern to someone else and ignoring me completely. I do feel sorry for him too as I am experiencing the same problem, but I believe you shouldn't be ignoring the topic starter completely too.

i'm from morocco 28 years old, and I just had my fundoplication of nissen one month now and i'm still having heartburn i don't understand why
even ppi don't work now, so I would love to know if it will heal or what to do ?

i hope really that will stop because i lost 10 kilos since my stomac probléms
i do think this opération will stop all my stomach heartburn GERD but i'm still having this

Do u take ur ppi or u stop it , if u stop ur ppi may u had acidrebound like me after i stop my ppi .
