Does anyone out there had success getting off nexium?

I'm trying right now. about a week since my last dose (was on 40mg 2x / day), and I'm doing o.k. I've been on it for a year straight and been having some other health problems (join issues) that I feel like are partly attributable to vitamin deficiencies.

I'm using H2's right now (as needed) and generally trying to keep a very simple diet. The acid rebound has been intense, but I seem to be on the back side of it... it peaked at about day 6 off the PPI's.

Oh man it is terrible.......I have been on it for 10yrs!  My body is sick too and my Dr. has reduced me down to 20mg finally it has taken about 8 months to get off the 40mg......It is a hard drug to get off of.  I have changed my diet and everything.......Hope you keep having success!

I am new to the site. I am pretty certain i have gerd. severe heartburn up through esophagus and tongue. it all burns on fire 1 - 2 hours after i eat, and lasts for hours. Dr put me on 40 mg nexium 4.5 weeks ago - no relief yet. I am so scared because i am in constant pain was hoping the nexium would work. I am also on carafate 4 times a day and eat gaviscon like candy. None of it helps for long.

Should the nexium have started working by now? Dr wanted to double dosage to 40 mg 2 times a day, but im worried about getting off of it. i have lost 20 pounds. I was 119 lbs now im under 100.

Is this a symptom also? i had an endoscopy on 12/1/13 for gastritis which was mild. then on February 20th had acid or bile shoot up my throat for no reason. never had reflux or burning before.

i would welcome any suggestions... I am very worried.

Totally understand you. I have had it all and it seems to me like the nexium should be working. Yeah they always want to up the dose.........Have you changed your diet? That has really helped I do no dairy no gluten and no sugar just honey.....it is hard but I had SIBO and I came to find out all of that stuff was feeling the bad in my gut. You have to have a test for that though to find out if you have it. I still have pain off and on but not as bad due to the diet. I too have lost like 35lbs. Hang in there and keep bugging the Dr. till you get your answers and if not from him go to another one. That's just my suggestion.

Andy cotton candy, thanks for getting back to me. I made a Dr appt with a specialist this Thursday. I googled my symptoms and bile reflux came up. Possibly that is why the medium isn't working... I still have my gallbladder, but it could still be bile reflux. My Symptoms are: weight loss, severe heartburn , throat and tongue burn, and upper stomach burn. I do not have the throwing up though.
I'm at my witts end. Have had no relief since 5 weeks ago when this came on suddenly. Anyone familiar with bile reflux?

I went to the Dr yesterday for my severe reflux. She switched me from 40 mg nexium to 30 mg prevacid. She said to give it a week to see if its going to work for my constant heartburn. She doesn't think its bile reflux because I don't have stomachs pain. She thinks its acid reflux. Has anyone had better luck with prevacid than with nexium? Also..should i try taking 15 mg prevacid in morning and the other 15 mg before dinner or 30 mg all at once in morning?
