Hi guys,
A quick question for all. When any of you were on PPI's (like prilosec, nexium, aciphex), did any of you notice that your digestion was somewhat compromised? The PPI's reduce stomach acid production and stomach acid is needed for proper digestion but I feel like I am especially sensitive. Anyone else felt that way?
Sew: Yes, you are absolutely right. In fact, the body goes after the muscles before fat when going into starvation mode. Fat is just an energy reserve. So when the body starts to lack in vital amino acids (protein) and minerals, it goes after the muscle and not the FAT. This weakness is the most frustrating part for me because it makes me feel like I am not normal and was and still is the #1 source of my anxiety (as in, is there really something wrong with me that the doctors missed?)
Gail, it is possible that you may have malabsorption issues. Basically, the GI system is inefficient and can't absorb what you put into the body effectively. By the way, I am also pretty sure that I could be a candidate for IBS. I am opposite of you. Instead of constipation, I have the tendency for the other extreme. Anyway, good luck tomorrow and do keep me posted.
Roah, I knew a girl back in college who I was really close to on a platonic level even though I always thought there was something more. But like when she broke up with her boyfriend, I had a girlfriend and if I happened to be single, she had a boyfriend so timing was never right and we cared too much about
our friendship to cross any lines. Then she went off to med school and I got married and I learned that she got married too. We haven't spoken or seen each other since 1999. Anyway, fast forward 14 years, my sinus problem is kind of continuing and I still have some blood in my sinus mucus that seems to come and go, so I decided to look up an ENT doctor near my work. Luck would have it that one of the ENT doctors that came up in my yelp search is my friend from college. She practices 10 mins from my work. So ignoring the awkwardness, I called her up yesterday and now I have ENT appointment with her today and she is going to put a lighted scope through my nasal passage to see if I have allergies and also have a look at my throat to see what she can do for this lump in throat feeling. So like you, I am going down the ENT path now too. Let me tell you, you can never know enough doctors or lawyers in this life. I thought I just share that story with you. I know how frustrating the health system can be. Just the waiting around for tests and the anxiety it causes. OMG. By the way, I am sorry your suffering and frustrations. Hang in there, girl.
Hi EJ, Viv, hoping you guys are having a good day.
