Benny, I wouldn't go see a surgeon until I knew what the cause of the pain was. I know you also suspect gall-bladder and I know that often gets overlooked. Maybe have the GI rule everything out first, which would include gastroparesis, before going under the knife. Maybe your GI has already ruled it out. Can you see a different GI? Also Benny, be aware that this thread will get locked soon because of it's length. Keep an eye out for the new one, because we will continue.
Gail, The GI that did my first EGD and tried every combination of PPI's then H2 blockers with the PPI's, did not recognize my gastroparesis symptoms. He sent me away with a prescript
ion for gas. Two days later I was in the office of another GI; he immediately sent me for the gastric emptying test. Once I was properly diagnosed I began to take Reglan to see if it would help. Once we knew I could eat on the Reglan he prescribed Domperidone which I have to order from Canada.
