Can't have TIF now.

went in for TIF procedure this morning. The prepped me put me under and last i remembered was getting on the operating table. Wok eup less than an hour later in recovery. They didn't do the op. They hyper inflasted my stomach and scoped me and found a 6-8cm Hiatal Hernia. Which is outside the repair apparently. Anything over 4cm can't do TIF.

He referred met o another surgeon in Omaha that will have to to a Nissen if I decide to do it. I am not sure about it. I have avoided the Nissen for all these years because of the recovery time and the side affects. but I don't want to live with what I got Either. I get Acid reflux terrible, huge hiccups in my throat, I aspirate acid into my lungs occasionally, mostly at night,. I get spasms in my chest and Sometimes feel like I am having a heart Attack. I get short of breath with minor effort (mostly after eating). Im exhausted from lack of sleep.. Up about every hour or so from symtoms, even with bed elevated.

I am going to read up more on the Partial Nissen, but not sure if I will qualify and if it will fix me completely. I had a JD/DeMeester score of 126.

Hi again Sarconastic, Please read my story "Having Partial Wrap 15th May".......I had most of what you have got including the lung problem and now I can lay flat again!!! The pain you go through is not near as bad as I thought it would be. I am 67 years young so if you are younger you should be fine re the recovery.. Just make sure you have a specialist doctor who only does this kind of op (mine also specialised in Gastric Banding)....one that knows what he is doing!! Mine is definitely a success story!!
