I've read some of the posts on this board about Gaviscon Advance (UK).  It sounds like it could help with LPR so I tried ordering it from chemistdirect yesterday.  Today I got an email saying they would not be able to complete the order because it is not licensed by the FDA and customs won't allow it to go through.  Does anyone know anywhere else that I can order it?  I live 3 hrs from Canada, can I get it there? 

I'm so exhausted from the coughing and sore throat, and it really sounds like the Gaviscon would be helpful and I don't want to take the stuff I can get in the US because of the aluminum.  Is it possible to get a prescription for it in the US?

Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

We purchase ours from Amazon. Takes a while to receive it and shipping is expensive. Hope this helps.

Thank you soooo much! 

I never ordered from Amazon before but it was quick and easy.  Now the waiting will be the hard part.....LOL!  I didn't see the liquid form so I ordered the tablets.  The reviews on Amazon were good so I'm looking forward to getting it to see if it will help.

A note from the doctor included with the shipment should work.

I got the same e-mail from chemist direct, but I ended up receiving a shipment from them anyway. I have also succesfully ordered gaviscon advance from canadadrugs.com and from e-bay. I'm not sure what the tablets are, but the reason the uk gaviscon is the best is because of its concentration of sodium alginate (1000 mg per 10 ml) so if you can find some with that concentration it would be ideal. I know the u.s. gaviscon doesn't have that, and I think it also has aluminum, which isn't good to ingest over a long period of time.

We ordered the strawberry gaviscon advance as we didn't care for the other flavors. And they tell us to avoid peppermint if you have GERD. While that flavor doesn't seem to bother everyone, our doc said to avoid it. I wonder why the mfg. doesn't pick up on that.
Also, from what we have read here on the forum,-- the liquid seems to help better but the tablets are easier to carry in purse/pocket.
Hope they come in soon for you. In the meanwhile try some regular Gaviscon for a very short time to get some relief . (We don't like the aluminum either and that is why we did the GA. )

I got the 600 ml gaviscon original for like 25 bucks from amazon. This seemed to be the best option for me because I wanted the most ML i could get for the cheapest amount. Once you starting adding more bottles of gaviscon to your order, the cost for shipping will go up aswell, so one bottle was a whole lot cheaper than getting two bottles of 250ml Gaviscon advance. Also, I couldn't find any GA that was aniseed. I'd be bat poo crazy if I'd take the one containing peppermint.

If your suffering from acid reflux, this will kick some butt for you.

Wow looks I will have to try amazon. Also remember that in a lot of these papers the benefits were not fully achieved until after 6 months of taking gaviscon, so you have to take it for a while. I've been using it for about a week and have felt a lot better already, which might just be coincidence but hopefully it is the gaviscon working.
