Has anyone tried Questran (cholestrymine) or Motilium for bile reflux?

Did it work?

How much was taken?

Are there any possible long term side effects?

Someone said it is similar to over the counter metamucil? (WHAT?)

Is that true?

I just started taking it today and if I find it helps, I'll be sure to let everyone know. One thing that I'm not a fan of is that the mix I have is orange flavored, which a no no for gerdies.

Metamucil might have a similar effect. I would like to try that myself someday.

I used it for a few years for bile induced D and it didn't effect my GERD at all. It was originally used as a cholesterol medicine, but they found it bound with bile and helped with the bile induce D after gallbladder surgery. I have also used Colestid in tablet form, but it didn't work quite as well as Questran.

Since it took care of all the excess bile after the surgery I would expect it to help with bile reflux as well,

I had Questran for about two months after having Toxic Liver which made me very very jaundiced[colour of saffron rice!], found it OK to take but I was taking it to get rid of the excess bilbruinin in blood which it did eventually. Had good side effect of reducing my cholesterol.
