LINX - acid (De Meester) score - manometry

According to the physician, you can't have a linx procedure without a 24 hr Ph test, a manometry and a recent endoscopy. Not the most appealing tests especially if there is no hospital in the neighborhood who offers alternative ways of performing the 1st and 2nd.

Here is a question that is haunting me right now because of what the physician told me:

Anyone experience? what does it mean? If many patients have their DeMeester score in the normal range, why do they have reflux? Or are they mistaking what they experience as reflux is actually something else? If that's possible then what could that be?

To be honest, he got me pretty worried. I thought it was clear what my problem was. After 3 endoscopies I was diagnosed with ulcers, gastritis en GERD every single time. I have all the symptoms of acid reflux. Now my biggest worry is that my DeMeester value will be normal because in my mind that will mean that I'm back at the beginning and with a possible procedure planned the beginning of July, I thought I was finally at the end.

This ability to push food passed the linx can only be measured with a manometry? It's a deal breaker for me if I have to do it the conventional way. I'll be going for a toupet fundo instead in that case.

For the 270 a barium swallow will be sufficient according to the doctor. 360 would be a different matter I guess.

I just asked him if I shouldn't do the ph bravo first. I told him that I wouldn't need manometry if the bravo would suggest that I'm ineligible for LINX. His answer to this will also confirm your earlier statement about getting LINX with normal DeMeester score.
