I have LPR with a cough. My throat actually doesn't bother me very often. I've been chewing gum, Trident Original Flavor, which I'm assuming is mint flavored although it doesn't say that. But it sure does taste like it. The gum helps my throat and will actually soothe my cough and stop that awful itchy, tickling feeling I get that causes me to have a coughing fit.
So, am I doing myself any harm by chewing this gum? I had the cough before I started chewing gum and it really does help it quite a bit. I've also been experimenting with alkaline water. At first it didn't seem to do anything but I've found that when I start coughing (usually after I eat) I drink a glass of the water and it almost works like cough syrup. By the time I finish the glass, I no longer have the feeling that I need to cough.
