Hi Everyone,
My surgery for Nissen and small hiatial hernia repair is scheduled for this Friday. I am a 29 year old woman in otherwise great health. I started having uncontrollable reflux and regurgitation in April after living pretty much symptom free for many years. I guess that is the "silent" in "silent reflux."
I think that moving into a new home probably made my hernia worse and that is why my symptoms got so bad after moving.
I had all the testing done anyone could and would want to do and my gastroentrologist looked at me and said my only option to fix it would be surgery. My protonix was just masking a larger problem, and not really even working that well. I have horrible throat burn and I reflux water...everything really. The surgeon agreed with my gastro and now everything is already in motion. I just never really thought a sore throat could lead to this...
I am pretty worried, but I feel like using this forum and other's journals I am as prepared as I can be. I would appreciate the support of this community too, and hope that my journal can help others, just like yours have helped me. Especially if my wrap goes smoothly and I heal and can live life well again, I want to stick around and let you guys know, because I dont see enough of those posts. I think most people just get on with their lives. I want to be able to update people who are going through what I am going through.
So Hi everyone, Nice to meet you. I am Stephanie, and this is my journey.
Any questions or comments are more than welcome
