So, for the last two and a half years I've been seeing a couple doctors who have recommended me to a total of 3 different surgeons so far. Each surgeon sends me back to the doctor to have him do a different test on me, and then the doctor decides to have me see a different surgeon after the test seems more geared toward another surgeon's abilities instead. But for whatever reason, the surgeons are just sitting on their hands.
I had a Nissen 8 years ago, and it's failing, but the tests are inconsistent, and no one wants to do anything for certain. Now I'm about to see a fourth surgeon about the TIF procedure (can they even do a TIF if you've already had a Nissen?), but I'm losing faith. Meds don't help, and this is kind of my last chance, but I don't want to appear as if I'm shopping around for a surgery; I'm just trying to correct an inconsistent but life-nullifying problem.
Has anyone had this problem with medical practitioners before? I recognize my symptoms from before I had my Nissen, and I know that, at least for a while, the Nissen fixed them. I've gone for too long with no solution and, every now and again, I'm confronted with the increasingly dark realization that I can't keep going on like this on such a diminishing cycle.
How would you approach a surgeon about being proactive without standing down and continually idling?
