Hello to all! I haven't posted in a while because I have been on a quest
to find answers to my suspected gerd problem, belching and LPR symptoms. I ended up going to Dr. Vaezi head of GI diseases at Vanderbilt in Nashville Tennessee. First of all, he ran some test on me to confirm or unconfirm my diagnosis. He is by far the most knowledgable Doctor in the area of Gerd and LPR that I have seen yet. I found out that I have a nerve sensory issue and very low reflux with a a high LES pressure. Iv'e always been told that my pressure was very low. It's still confusing to me but interesting none the less. Anyway, just wanted to give Dr. Vaezi a thumbs up...he really knows his stuff! He is not like most doctors that run test and take a month or so to get back with you on your results. I'm not from Nashville so he ran test one day and sat down with me the next day and went over all my test results for about 30 minutes! I give Dr. Vaezi two thumbs up!!! yeah

Interesting news. Did DR. Vaezi have a plan for the next steps for the road of recovery? Sounds like I have same symptoms: LPR / belching. I also think my esopeagus is hypersensitive, i don't have any heartburn.

Dr. Vaezi's recommendation was to take Neurontin 100 mg (a low dose nerve drug. I have a really hard time with taking medications but if I want to feel better I'm going to have to give it a try. I just hate medication! I'm still floored that I've been told for 10 years by various motility specialist and gastroenterologist that my
LES pressure is patulous (on the low side) and that I have a small to large hernia! Then I find out today that my LES pressure is very high and I have no Hernia to speak of. All this is still sinking in but I would like to offer advice for those gerd/LPR sufferers that you better get several opinions before deciding to do anything like surgery for this condition. You better get a Doc that will sit down with you un-rushed and go over everything! I have actually had Docs to recommend surgery to me for my LPR symptoms!! Dr. Vaezi told me today that I should thank my lucky stars that I did NOT go through with it. It would have been a huge mistake for me with relentless side effects! This is so, so scary to me! I actually saw a surgeon for this problem earlier this year but was so scared of surgery I did'nt schedule it. THANK GOD!
