losing hope

Today was a very bad day.   Sorry to complain because i know others have many problems too, but my voice was clear as a bell this morning and by noon the pain and lump were out of control.   Does this really sound like LPR to anyone??

Yes it does sound like LPR - I am now having a dual impedance test for mine this weekend. The only way you're actually going to find out if you have LPR is to get the dual impedance or Restech test.

Most LPR sufferers have upright reflux - so you start off fine in the morning and gradually get worse during the day. The lump in the throat is caused by the cricopharyngeus muscle tightening trying to stop reflux passing your UES.

If you don't want to go for the test - why not try an experiment at home - try staying in bed (not upright) until 2pm and see how your throat is then?
And try the salt gargle 4 times a day for the sore throat.

So far, I haven't heard anyone say that they smoke...cigarettes that is! I have a friend who is much worse off that me and she is a smoker. Thanks

What country are you from? Get a peptest done - even if you have to fedex the package back to the UK - that will tell you if you have pepsin (from your stomach) in your throat. If you have then you are refluxing gastric contents into your mouth.

I have just done one, and the results are off the charts!! I have been told to forward it to my doctor - this would be the idiot Gastro that says I don't have any reflux at all as my PH study last year was fine. The man has obviously never heard of silent reflux and that things change!

All you do is spit saliva into a tube, I would recommend doing a few tubes, and Harvey emails you the result asap.
