Hi Pennie,You're definitely not healed on the inside yet. As Bill said, it takes a full 6 months for most of the healing and a year for healing. Your insides take MUCH longer to heal than your incisions on the outside.
The wrap can become a bit swollen when it gets irritated either by foods getting stuck at the wrap site, or rough foods going through the wrap. This is totally normal. If you get some irritation, just be careful to chew your food thoroughly, and only swallow smooth foods.
I would recommend that you allow the Boost to get a little less cold before drinking if it is bothering you at all. Iced drinks can cause discomfort and spasming. The wrap can stay swollen, which is why some people continue to have some bloating problems during the early months of healing. All you need to do with wrap irritation is to baby your wrap and stomach by eating carefully.
The swelling will gradually subside over time as you heal. As Bill mentioned, you're not having the "peak swelling" that we discussed earlier. You're past the worst of it. Whatever swelling you may have would be mild compared to that.
It sounds as if you're worried, and I want to emphasize that you don't need to be. Just go with the flow and let your body take its own sweet time to heal. You can't rush healing, but you can slow it down if you don't follow the eating rules of taking small bites and chew chew chewing your food until it is a liquid/creamy consistency. Don't eat anything that does not chew to a liquid. When you eat and take medication, be sure to sip plenty of water afterwards, so your esophagus muscles have a few more opportunities to push things through.
If you can surrender to your recovery and follow its lead all will be well. Try not to struggle against the reality of recovery. Just hang in there and stay positive!
Happy healing,
Denise
