Has anyone else had any of these symptoms?

Diagnosed last year with post infectious IBS, this progressed to feeling of lump in throat, and constant burping, very bad chest pain, sore throat and burning tongue. Finally diagnosed with small hernia less than 1cm and put on omeprazole once per day PH study was negative. Barium swallow 1 showed mild tertiary contractions in lower 1/3 of gullet. Manometry showed a lot of failed peristalsis - Consultant put it down to my sore tongue!

From Feb, life settled down fine, and was tootling along. Then had visitors ate a more "normal diet" and then started some cardio exercise - nothing strenuous, move on a couple of weeks chest pain back and developed swallowing problems. Throat red raw but vocal chords okay, nodules and a cyst in mouth and it feels swollen. Barium swallow 2 - showed a lot more tertiary contractions with barium pinging up and down the gullet and not really going into LES, hernia now 3cm. Went for manomety and it was a good day spasm wise - typical - this showed weak peristalsis and on the five fast swallows LES did not open. PH study showed weak acid mainly gas with a score of 10.4. Lower Sphincter pressure 8.

I am still in daily pain, I have upped my omeprazole to 40 x 2 a day, but the pain in lower gullet is immense -  it feels this morning as though I am about to give birth out of it! I can get the pains just from swallowing my own saliva when I wake?

I don't even feel like eating but am forcing myself too. I'm due a videofluoroscopy next week and due to see a surgeon soon, God I can't go on like this. eyes

I just want to extend my deep sympathy for what you are going through. I haven't been through all the tests and procedures as you have because I got pregnant right after my endoscopy (or more accurately, 6 days before but I didn't know it yet). So I have to wait until the pregnancy is over to investigate further, but I have also experienced incredible pain in my throat and tongue with my symptoms. Mine also started with a lump feeling in my throat in May of this year. Since then I have had a lot of episodes of blood shooting into my mouth and pain that has almost sent me to the ER several times. It always passes eventually though.

Pregnancy has exacerbated my symptoms as well, since pregnancy causes heartburn. The strange part is that I don't *feel* the heartburn. I just feel the aching throat that gets raw while bleeding. I've had heartburn before but I just don't feel it. It must be silent. Maybe it's silent because I'm on Protonix, I don't know.

But what I want to say is that I understand the frustration and suffering and misery. And the fact that answers are difficult to find. And even when they come, they come with more questions. My experience with this has been like walking into a dark abyss where I can't see a thing and I don't know where I'm going.

It's very scary to be carrying a child on top of it, and trying very hard not to feel stressed about it. I feel like I am walking in my life's greatest test. I just hope I can pass. And I hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel somewhere. Because no one should have to live with this pain forever.

And this experience has shed light on the fact that we are among the many humans that are suffering somewhere on the planet. There is so much suffering here. When I was healthy I complained about colds and flus but those would be a great blessing compared to the suffering of this disease. I can only hope to go back to the world of colds and flus. Hopefully with a greater understanding of gratitude for what I've got... Health is a monumental gift so easy to take for granted. I am learning.

Im suffering too and when i hear people complain about everyday things i can no longer relate. I would do anything to have regular aches and pains.

Thank you both for our kind replies. Hopefully the surgeon will have some more answers.
