Hi Bob,Wecome to the Healing Well Wrapped Club! You can whine all you want. That's what we're here for. Still, I'd say the tone of your post is very light, and not a bit negative. Of course you're dealing with lots of discomfort and nasty symptoms...your body has been through a lot, and your stomach is complaining LOUDLY!
You might just have to adjust yourself to sleeping on your back. I know some can manage side sleeping after surgery, but 3 years post op, I'm still mainly sleeping on my back. My left side used to be my favorite, and I can sleep that way for a while, but I tend to get some discomfort when I do. I'm guessing it's adhesions or something pulling.
Anyway, back to you. Your low bloodsugar symptoms sound like part of the dumping syndrome. Here's the Mayo clinic description of some of the possible symptoms during or after a dumping episode:

I also had dumping periodically during my recovery, but fortunately for me, it wasn't accompanied by any of the other symptoms. FYI, it continued less frequently through the year mark, and I figured I'd always have an occasional bout. Sometime during the second year it stopped altogether. Don't know when just noticed it wasn't happening any more.
No wonder you're worn down...going to work after just a week. Yikes! I planned to go back half time at two weeks (I was teaching second grade at the time), but had lung issues pre and post Nissen (asthma/lung infection brought on by reflux), and I ended up staying out about 6 weeks, because my doc was worried I'd catch something else at school.
Yes, if you can surrender to your recovery and follow it where it takes you, you'll have a much easier recovery. Just go with the flow, and accept what is. You can't hurry it along...the healing will just take its own sweet time.
Again, glad you've joined us!
Take care,
Denise
PS Why don't you introduce yourself in a brand new thread on the main page? That way it'll be easier to follow your recovery, as well as respond to your questions. Here's the link: GERD - Heartburn Happy healing!
