hi,
i wold like to know is there someone ohter than me who experiences breathing problems especially after being diagonised GERD ?the doctors say my chest is clear i am not wheezingnor coughing but i have been having some tightness especially when its cold
PLEASE PLEASE answer this one ... confused

glma, I do and it really stinks! I had heart surgery in September and again in APril and ever since that its been terrible. Good days and bad.

i am having the same problem, meds are not working can't hardly eat. had the streta procedra done made it worse

That's exactly what happens to me too, and it's what finally led my doc to a diagnosis of GERD. Prior to that, ER docs had been trying to convince my I was just having panic attacks (which is true, by the way, but only *after* I felt I couldn't breathe - not a big surprise there).

For me, it started with what I think is called a globus sensation (lump in the throat) at the base of my neck but has recently turned into quantities of fluffy spittle in my throat and sometimes muscle tension higher up. Either way, it certainly does feel like I'm not getting enough air, even though I can watch my chest inflate fine, and blood oximeter readings are always 96, 97, 98% when this is happening.

In looking around the web, there seem to be lots of instances of reflux linked at least to this globus sensation, so you're certainly not alone.

Hi: I had severe breathing problems for months before I knew I had GERD.  My breathing got so bad that I was treated for severe bronchitis with a few antiobiotics, then steroids, then Advair.  I went to a pulminologist, had the asthma testing, and finally figured out that it was GERD.  I have been on Nexium for a week and my breathing has been perfect since.  The Nexium side-effects though are a real bother: neck, shoulder, thigh, and knee cramping and pain and also a vague sense of numbness in my midsection.  Has anyone else felt these, and does anything help?

I get short of breath alot and also suffer panic attacks but its more the not being able to breath that brings on the panic,I suffer GERD real bad and Im sure its this that causes the breathing thing -have read it quite a bit that this can be a side effect something to do with acid and the bronchial tubes.

I saw this article and thought you might like to read it!  I have Asthma and GERD with Barrett's and a hiatal hernia, along with Heart Disease.  So sometimes I find it extremely difficult to tell what is what!  I hope this helps a bit?!

I have the bloating-even without eating- and immidiately followed by difficulty breathing. sometimes the breathing problem is so severe that albuterol puffer is all that helps, otherwise I am sure I would die form suffocation. This was only tentatively diagnosed yesterday, and I have had 2 attaks today alone. Does anyone else use albuterol?

i have trouble breathing from gerd and i too have an albuterol inhaler. i have been to pulmonary docs and they say it is gerd related. i believe my medicine isnt working for me anymore and i am going to check on that. i find sometimes the albuterol helps and sometimes it doesnt, it all depends. it surely does make me feel panicky though and i also feel like i cannot breathe in through my throat which drives me nuts!
