Manometry and Ph test

Next week I am going in for a manometry and Ph test, I was looking for some tips and/or advice or anything I should know.

The manometry is much more uncomfortable than the Ph.

I did the manometry last week and doing the Ph as I write this.

If you can access it I would take some Valium to help you relax. It's a mind over matter thing, especially with manometry test.

Make sure you are off PPIs when doing the Ph. I had to reschedule my Ph as I was still taking Dexilant.

Good luck. It's worth knowing what's going on rergardless of if you decide on the Nissen.

It's different for some people. Sometimes I've heard they ask you to go off your PPIs while doing the test, I've also heard people who were told to stay on them, like myself. So you have to do what they tell you to do. Good luck!

I recently did both. The manometry was uncomfortable, but doable. Just try to relax and remember that it will be over soon. I had troubles in that I would swallow a little before he put the water in my mouth, and then I would have to wait for that swallow to pass before continuing. So really pay attention and focus on only swallowing once to make it go by quicker.
My pH probe was not wireless, so it was annoying to wear all day. Also, I did find the wire aggravating on my throat when swallowing, but I've had quite a bit of throat pain lately anyway, so I was probably more sensitive than others.

I read on this forum that touching your tongue on the roof of your mouth may help keep you from swallowing when you are not supposed to. I wish I had known that.

I used deep breathing and relaxation techniques to get through it.

My ph was a Bravo, inserted during an endoscopy.

Not sure when you are having this done Padre, but I'm having the PH and manometry on Tuesday and will let you know how I got on the following day. Take care.
