Beyond anxious for my endoscopy tmrw !

I'm literally sitting here wanting to cry while typing this .
I also have anxiety disorders (obviously) therefor i'm a mess.
I think whats worrying me , is im also getting a ph monitoring done as well , and what they have explained is that it's a capsule and I wont have to have the tube down my throat or nose .
I have really bad gag reflexes and I dont want to wake up during the twilight sedation.
Someone please help calm my fears .
Tell me good experiences only !!

It's the easiest test you will do. You will be under light sedation.. And they give you another drug that will relax you and you won't remember.. Literally nothing to this test. Relax... This is a breeze.

I just had one a few months ago and I woke up trying to hug and kiss the cute nurse in the recovery area. I didn't remember anything and I just felt drunk and happy. I got the rest of the day off to sit around watching movies.
It is by far the easiest test I had done before my surgery.

By far, the endoscopy was the easiest part of the process. I often say that its the best nap I've ever had (and I had three endoscopies before making the surgery decision). When you wake up, you won't even know what's happened. If anything, you might have a little bit of a sore throat. It's a good excuse to be left on the couch to do nothing the rest of the day. :) As for the pH monitoring, be lucky you have just the capsule. You won't even know it's there. I had the wire sticking out of my face and down my throat for 24 hours. NOT the most fun.

I've had three endoscopies; you have nothing to worry about! The test really is very easy. I barely remember anything, and each time I was told I would have a sore throat afterward, but I never did. I'm not sure if you've had an upper GI/barium swallow, but if you have, the endoscopy is much more pleasant than that. No yucky thick, chalky liquid.

As far as pH monitoring goes, be happy that you are avoiding the wires. :-) I too have a very strong gag reflex and had the test with the wire running up my nose and down my throat. Most uncomfortable 24 hours of my life! The nurse that did the test told me no one was ever late for their appointment to have the wire removed.
