Starting to get really desperate...

Hello everyone,

My name is John. First of all, I would like to talk a little bit about my background.I am 26 years old male and generally a stressful person. I am 5' 9'' and 138 pounds, in generally good health. I was diagnosed with chronic gastritis almost 6 years ago, but my last 2 months have been really bad.

Everything started almost 2 months ago. I went to the ER with chest pains after eating (though I was having a heart attach), when I went there, the nurse took my HR and it was at 135. The took my vitals(totally fine) and EKG(first one had a couple of PVC, the second one was fine), did blood work, CT of the chest and X-RAY and everything came back fine. I keep on getting an elevated heart rate, especially after eating, together with palps and PVC. Sometimes my HR will go up to 150 bpm, most of the times it will be closer to 120-130 bpm, together with chest pains(occasionally), bloating, belching, acid coming up in the throat, feeling that something is stuck behind my neck, gas and all those really pleasant symptoms. When I get all that, I also start getting really anxious, which I will assume that doesn't really help either.

In the past year I had : 9 EKG's, 24 hour holter monitor, 3 x-rays, ct of chest, stress test, tons of blood work(including thyroid check), cervical and brain MRI's and I am on schedule for an echo cardiogram and and endoscopy this month. Blood pressure is ok, around 122/65-70(used to be perfect, around 110/60), no cholesterol or any diseases as far as I am aware at least(lol).

This thing has been driving me crazy for the past months...I am afraid to eat, I am not in a mood to do anything, and I have lost almost 10 pounds in the last month and a half.

Anyone else with any similar symptoms or ideas? I can use all the help I can, the doctors think that all is in my head, but I wasn't like that before all this started.

Hi John,sounds like you need to see a gastro doctor and get a few tests done ie.endoscopy,barium swallow to see whats going on in there.asap!
Youre symtoms sound similar to what I was having when I had esophagitis.Very uncomfortable!

Please tell me they have put you on an anti acid medication, like a PPI?

When my reflux problems first started I had the same issues, my heart would be thumping out of my chest, and skipping beats constantly. After going on PPIs the heart symptoms dramatically improved.

I can empathise with how mentally distressing this condition is, I, like most on this forum, have been through exactly the same thing. Gastric problems are some of the hardest to diagnose and explain, as well as treat, but you will get through this and will find something that works to relieve your symptoms.

Thank you both for your replies, I am sorry it took so long to answer, I have been really busy lately with work and everything.

Andy, my doctor did tell me to get on Prilosec, but the first day that I took it, I felt really bad. It might have been though what I have eaten also, so I am not totally sure about it. Back then, when I was diagnosed with gastritis I was treated with Losec(European version of prilosec) and it did make me feel A LOT better, but the symptoms back then were a lot different. I have the exact same symptoms that you mention, I always wonder though what the fast heart rate is from... maybe after starting getting symptoms, I get anxious too.

Ice, I actually had some people telling me about the gluten sensitivity. I wanted to try it, but right now I am pretty much waiting to see how the endoscopy will go. Can they test the acid with the endoscopy, or do I have to ask for a different test, at least to your knowledge.
