Hi All,

Just wanted to quickly introduce myself as I finally joined the forum after getting some great advice from it over the last few weeks.

I had a nissen fundoplication on the 24th of October and have had a few ups and downs since (the worst being catching a stomach bug from my 4 year old son) but seem to be going well over all.

I've found searching this site has a answered most my queries/concerns but thought it was time I joined up and hopefully be able to offer some advice or comment as well as getting my own questions answered as my recovery progresses.

Hi Stu,

Welcome to the forum! I am in the UK too (London).

I've not had any surgery as yet, but am hoping that they can do something for me after analysis of my ph/manometry tests (which the hospital can't seem to find at the moment!).

I look forward to you sharing your post nissen journey. There are several other posters from the UK on this site also.

Hi Stu

Welcome. I'm in the UK also (Cambridgeshire).

I had my fundoplication on the 12th November so it's still early days for me.

Like Noelle3 I look forward to reading your posts on how things are going on your recovery.

Just one question for you for now - are you eating a normal diet yet or are you still on the soft / sloppy food still ?

Hi Stu. I am also in uk welcome to the site. I had my fundo in 2001 which lasted great for 9 years, having problems now, so last week had manometry & ph acid waiting for results (nhs as you know dont do quick). Best wishes Rita

Noelle3 - hope your results turn up soon!

Maria - I have started a normal diet this week so slowly introducing more solid food. Still mainly on fish and chicken though and having it with very soft mash. Though I am eating a more normal diet they are very small portions and have found I'm just not ready for some foods yet.

Rita - hope your wait isn't too long.

Welcome TigerStu,

I'm also in the UK. I have had GERD for 3 years and was never symptom free on PPI. Manometry and pH monitoring this year were normal, leaving me with unexplained symptoms and possible hypersensitivity of oesophagus. I have a small area of Barretts but have been told quite emphatically that I have no reflux, though I have had it in the past! Tell that to my symptoms....

There's a lot of support for before and after surgery on the forum and you will find Denise a real expert too. Best wishes for a smooth recovery!

Hi Stu et al!

You and I had our op on the same day, but think you are ahead on the food front, I'm still very much on the purée stage, finding it hard to take textures even with chewing, and like you appetite isn't huge! Good luck with your continued recovery!
