Lump Feeling in throat from Gerd

Has anyone had the experience of the lump feeling in their throat from gerd? I have had this since Nov 27th and still has not gone away. It has gotten a little better though. The lump feeling also seems to travel from one part of my throat to another. Also there are days where its not even there, and I think it might have finally gone away ,only to come back the next day. Anyone else with this problem?

I too feel like there's a lump in my throat but only on the right hand side and it's not there all the time. Weird!!
My other symptoms are episodes of shortness of breath and funny little pains in my chest though again this is intermittent.

Hi Pete no coughing at all. I do have gerd and was put on Zantac by my ENT who found nothing wrong with my throat. I will be going to a gastro Dr In January. I was a Diet coke drinker very very bad and aslo drank coffee 2 cups a day and did not watch my diet. Since this has happened I have cut out everything and am drinking water and 1 % milk. Since I have trouble swallowing I have only boiled potatoes with a little salt with smart balance margarine. Low fat low salt chicken broth and unsweetened applesauce. I just wish this lump would go away already! confused

I take a liquid cal/mag with vit D, it seems to help some as well as chewing gum helps also.

The lump or globulus feeling is very common with GERD and LPR. It can come and go at will, it seems.

Chewing gum and also throat lozenges seem to help it. I used the ones with Vit. C this time of year.

I suspect it's caused from mucus and inflammation in there.

Thanks everyone for their input. I have only had this gerd problem for a little while. I was diagnosed by the hospital. The dr there told me I had the beginnings of Gerd and a small Hiatal Hernia. I am just assuming that my lump was caused by my acid reflux that I really should have been watching my diet. This is my 1st time with this annoying lump feeling in my throat. I am just afraid that it will never go away!

As opnwhl4 said, Globus can come and go. I had it a couple times for a few weeks at a time. It has been gone for 3 years or so even though my GERD was worse. The hiatus hernia is a worry. Many people have hernias with no problems or symptoms. Since you have symptoms, you may want to have your GI doc monitor the size of the hernia closely over time.

Thanks Gunner I will. I had gained about 100 lbs after I lost my job a few years ago. I was once 136 and an avid weight lifter. Then got depressed and stopped working out. Then the weight piled on very quickly~! Now I have cleaned up my diet and plan on losing all this weight! I hope that by doing that and getting healthy I can reverse the damage that has been done!

Sometimes, I have the lump feeling. I have a dry cough that wont go away and wheezing (weird)

It could be gerd get checked by your dr. Well today I went on the scale and I lost 17lbs in 3 weeks. I have really cleaned up my diet. I still have the lump feeling in my throat though. Its not as pronounced as it was when I got it on Nov 28th but its still there. How long has anyone else had this annoying lump feeling??
