MMM,

Thanks for the update.....you could ask for a low grade anti-d (amitriptyline) to help with the hypersensitive oesophagus. It seems like a smart move to not have surgery in your case. Keep trying to do your best to avoid stress, I know it's hard but this is a must! Hang in there!!!!!

Hi mum,

Have you ever tried the throat lozenges containing Hexylresorcinol? These have an anaesthetic action that may help quell your symptoms.

Hi folks, thanks I'd not thought about the throat lozengers and will see if I can get some!

I thought they might have offered low dose Amitriptyline or low dose antidepressant but it wasn't mentioned and I was thrown off course by having to talk about gastroscopy. I was doing well until I changed my asthma inhaler, so am currently trying to find a way round that too.

Thanks for your suggestions though - really useful :-)

Hi mmm interesting to read of your meeting with Consultant it seems to me no-one knows what to do with us who have all the symptoms but cant prove it. We should form a action group! Only joking but hitting head against brick wall comes to mind. Tomorrow I see the Consultant about the tests to get results from August as you say NHS not the quickest so I've gone private as the appointments keep being cancelled. I am not holding out much hopes just want to know why the darn wrap has decided not to work! Keep your spirits up. Best wishes Rita

Hi Reet, yes I've been private in the past too. I wasn't in a hurry this time so I just put up with the cancelled appointments and it eventually worked round to a day I don't work, which is a bonus!

I waited 90 mins in the waiting room too, which is partly why I forgot to ask about treatments for the hypersensitivity!

Hello mmm thank you for your help. I now know my wrap is intact but has moved down slightly. My main problem is very slow motility in my oestophagus so my food stays too long then gets to the wrap and is held up again, I do not have reflux but pain showing itself as reflux!! So we are to try a dilation before messing with the wrap which would have to be changed from 360degree to partial one to allow food down but not acid up. At least I know now. I am going to start a new thread to see if anyone else has this and going to Amazon for a mincer to baby my food. Besr wishes Rita
