So today I go to an appointment with an ENT doctor about an issue with my nose. While filling out the medical history I see a check box for "Lump in Throat" and "Difficulty Swallowing" so I check them. I've had this condition for well over 10 years and I've seen multiple doctors, had x-rays, cameras down my throat, even had an MRI and always the same answer....nothing wrong. I expect more of the same but after 5 minutes with this doctor he says it's most likely LPR. I've never heard of LPR and no other doctor even mentioned it including my family doctor I've had for 13 years now. He asks me about my throat every year, he's the one that ordered the MRI but never mentioned LPR or gave me anything for it. So I'm pretty excited that after all this time, the condition I was resigned to living with for the rest of my life may actually be something that can be fixed. I have all the bad behaviors that contribute to LPR, drink 3 soda's a day, love chocolate, have a diet full of fried food, almost never eat green vegetables, eat jalapenos like most people eat pickles, etc. So the doctor gives me some Dexilant and tells me to try that for a few weeks and see what happens. I've sworn off soda and bought some Evamaor water to help and I'm planning to modify my diet to see if that helps over the next few weeks. That's where I need some help. Having had no restrictions on my diet for my entire life I'm used to eating whatever I want so trying to select foods with low acid is going to be a new experience for me. I'm pretty much a carnivore so swearing of meat would probably kill me inside of a week! What meats are acceptable for an LPR sufferer and and what other foods are tasty but less prone to aggravate this condition?
