Hi JessiT,Welcome to the
Wrapped Club!
I'm so glad that my journal was helpful to you! I remember when I was seeking out information about
the surgery. There are so many scary things out there, and I felt so fortunate to find this forum. I'm now five years post op, and have stuck around the forum to help others the way I was helped.
Bill, (opnwhl4) was one of the people who helped me when I first came to the site looking for answers! He was an inspiration--overcoming adversity and keeping a positive attitude in spite of his challenges.
As Bill has said, remember that you just had major surgery. I'm so glad to hear you're feeling great. Because of that, though, you may inadvertently overdo it. Be sure to listen carefully to your body and follow its lead. If it says it's tired, rest.
Going back to work as quickly as you are, is really unusual, although I remember hearing of someone who went back to work as a dental hygienist at one week post op. I know I couldn't have gone back that quickly!
Don't forget that your wrap will become increasingly more swollen in the next two weeks or so. My surgeon warned me that my swallowing would get worse before it got better, which was exactly what happened. If you begin to get more discomfort at the wrap site, and your swallowing gets more difficult, don't worry. It's part of the natural progression of healing. It'll gradually get better once peak swelling has been reached. Occasionally someone here on the site gets through that swelling without a problem, but it's good to be aware, just in case.
Be sure to stick around the forum and ask questions that might come up. We're here to provide support and encouragement as you go through the healing process. Best wishes for a smooth transition back to work! Remember--don't overdo!
Happy healing!
Denise
