80 mg Prilosec for 12 weeks????

Hi,

I was prescribed this by my doctor after my endoscopy yesterday in an effort to heal the ulcers in my stomach. Has anyone else been prescribed this amount of PPI for this duration? I am a little concerned about how high the dose is. Any experiences are appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Shane, I was taking 80 mg (40 mg 2 x daily) protonix (pantoprazole) for 3 years. When it stopped working in October my GI then decided to send me to a surgeon. I had NF Feb 7, 2014 and haven't taken anything since and no more tums.

Thanks Jessi. I guess my main concern is that it would have some long term affect on my stomach, but 3 years is a lot longer than 3 months. Thanks again and glad you are well.

Like Jessi, I was on Protonix 4x's (80 mg per dose) a day for almost 5 years to deal with severe ulcerations and really bad reflux. When that stopped working, I had the Nissen procedure done. No longer on any meds and I feel great. I go in for my one year endoscopy in April...I'm hoping that all the ulcers and barretts cells are gone!
