Hi. I have had GERD for some time and, unfortunately, I am allergic to the standard protein inhibitors that are usually taken to help out the situation. Therefore, surgery is about the only recourse for me. There is a relatively new process in use now in the U.S. which has been used for sometime other parts of the world. It is the use of a magnetic ring sphincter which goes on the outside of the esophagus and opens when food or liquid passes through the esophagus from the mouth and is completely closed the remainder of the time. The surgery is pretty non-invasive and supposedly if it doesn't work for you, it can simply be removed. I'm thinking of having this operation, but wanted to know if anyone else had tried it, and what the results were. Looking forward to some input.
Thanks
Bill
