Went to see my dr. He did an ultrasound again and a chest x ray . He says i don't have any heart and lung problem. The pain in my left side, when i try to deep breath has something to do with some veins. But i'm still skeptic. It increases at night and while sleeping on left side. I can hardly complete a deep breath because of the pain in causes in my chest, life side. And the aerophagy's worse, feels like wind stuck in my esophagus and throat all the time. Lansoprazole reduces constant burping but increases the feeling of pressure in stomach, throat and esophagus. What to do?

I'm feeling suffocated from a couple of weeks
now, it's like i'm not getting oxygen. Shortness of
breath as well. gerd is not that severe so can't
blame it for these symptoms. From a few days
suffocation is getting worse, specially today, it's
like suffocating to death. I'm worried as i read bird flu can cause severe suffocation, how to get
tested? Dr says my heart and lungs are okay. I
can't take deep breath, chest hurts and even the
deep breathing feels empty, like oxygen is
missing.

I suffer GERD since Jan 2014 until now but i think it's getting better. My esophagus is eroded and ulcerated. Taking 3 weeks Dixelant 60 mg with horrible side effects to me. Constant burping, anxiety like my left arm is burning and heart palpitation and got insomia . I switch to Nexium 40 mg. Side effects seems lessen until recently i am now on 20mg Nexium until quitting it. I don't have this constant burping like a air pressure below my chest after 2-3 hours of eating before. I suspect it's the PPI caused this since PPI decrease acid production so my food not digested properly converting to air/wind inside my stomach. As i decrease my dosage, the pressure seems relatively low. What i hate when this pressure build up is a have hard to breath resulting to hypervintation the anxiety then panic....

Voice I had the same problems before my surgery. I had shortness of breath, felt like I wasn't getting oxygen and couldn't take a deep breath. I kept asking my GI dr if my reflux was causing the problems and was told no, however I have not had any breathing issues since I had the surgery. The surgeon told me after the surgery said that he had to do extensive repair to my diaphragm. I now think that possibly my problems was because of my hiatal hernia.

JessiT THank you for your reply. I've had an ultrasound and didn't show any hernia though, but perhaps my problem is also being caused by my GERD. Need second opinion i guess

Voice I had an ultrasound and it didn't show my hernia either. I had multiple egd's and the GI dr never said anything about a hernia. I found out from my surgeon when he did an egd and then I had a video swallow test and they told me I had a hernia.

You mean an endoscopy will be a better option for diagnosis!

I'm not sure if it was just the difference in the dry doing the edg. I know the person who did swallow test commented about my hernia during the test. The surgeon did the edg and then I had the swallow test. I just can't see that the hernia just miraculously appeared over night. I think it was there all the time.
