4 weeks on from LINX surgery l still have my two pre surgery symptoms….
acid heartburn and nausea……
l stopped my medication of 80mg Nexium and full dose of Ranatidine immediately after Surgery…
Hope l start to feel better soon… Does the LINX get more effective as time goes on l wonder?
Am l still suffering from PPI rebound after been on that dose for 7 months?

This is my humble opinion-- I really think that stopping PPI's immediately after surgery is not a good thing. I feel that the rebound causes excess acid (more then pre-surgery) that can be responsible for continuing heartburn. The excess acid irritates the esophagus and causes a sucky nauseated feeling. The Linx does not stop all reflux and pressure from the stomach causes it to open allowing excess acid upward. Stopping PPI's cold turkey is a good selling point to so many that are desperate to feel better and be off that medicine. Those who titrated down have been more successful.

Please discuss your continuing symptoms with the doctor. I feel for you and want you to feel better too. Here's article about rebound (PubMed).

Hi Linxcat,

After reading the many posts that used to be in this forum I remember reading some people did experience heartburn and nausea.  One of our members posted "things can be rough during the healing process but around 12 weeks life looks better."

Do you have liquid medication for pain and nausea ?

Also, like all surgeries, the sooner you can be up walking around you will do better.

Week 8 here, pretty much feel in the same way as you do.

l see my Consultant in a few weeks time so will have to see where we are then.. guess l have to remain hopeful.. x
